Summer Vacay - Day 7: Goop and Paint

Goop IngredientsI have been wanting to make goop with my kids for the longest time but was waiting for a sunny day to make the mess outside. As much as the kids can 'try' not to be messy, it's just impossible with this stuff and to save myself the frustration it just seemed to make sense. Since the last day of school the weather has been perfect summer weather, *knock on wood* so the time has come to bring out the corn starch and make us some goop. I tried to take a picture of the kids with all the supplies needed and then noticed just now that the cornstarch is on the french side but I guess that just happens when you live in a bilingual country so we'll keep it. So we mixed us up some cornstarch and water in a baking pan until it was slimy and that's it. Easy easy! We used food colouring in our water for a little umph cause we roll like that.

Mixing The GoopMaking It Solidify

SlimySo I'm not sure if you have ever made goop before but for those that haven't, it is pretty fun stuff. When you play around with it and squish it, it solidifies. It becomes crumbly like in the picture above. Then as you leave it alone and it relaxes it becomes more like a liquid and slimy slipping through the cracks or dripping through your fingers like it is with Sydney is these pictures.Goop Relaxing

After we were done with our goop and that was all cleaned up we decided to do some painting on the front step because when there is already a mess, why not make it a really colourful mess? We used toilet paper rolls, painted them and then glued them to make binoculars. They loved painting them, not enough to put the candy down and do it as you can see Sydney is multi tasking, but they were pretty into it. The bummer part was once they were glued together they completely lost interest so I didn't end up with a picture of the finished project. Meh, it's not that important.
