Summer Vacay - Day 6: Writing On Stone

Today we went down to Writing On Stone to join up with family that was camping down there for the week. I was a little worried about the weather because it was so windy yesterday and no one wants to be blasted in the face with sand all day long and listening to a whiney 3 year old who keeps getting blown over. We arrived at lunch and kids probably wouldn't have cared less about the weather, they were just so excited to see everyone that they would have bounded out of the van into a blizzard to go and play. Thankfully the weather was fantastic. It was sunny and hot, perfect for a good climb in the hoodoos. The boys went off to some more challenging climbing and I stayed with the girls, all three of them (totally outnumbered), while we did what their shorter legs could handle. I wasn't prepared for the climbing skills of Sydney and my niece (AM). They were climbing masters and Madison refused to be left behind trying to climb straight up after them. Sydney wore a hole right in her bum having a blast sliding down those rocks and although Madison started out having the time of her life she slowly became more and more cautious so we took the low road back to camp.

We caught up with the boys for a little bit so I was able to at least get one good shot of my three adventurers together and a few of Brayden climbing with the boys.

Fun DayAfter we were finished playing around in the hoodoos we made our way back to camp to change into swimsuits and tackle the Milk River. It has quite a good current for tubing so JS took the little rubber dingy with the boys up the river a bit and took them down the current to meet up with us down a bit on the beach. The kids just played in the water and made a big water hole and sand castles. The wind had completely died down which was perfect for little wet bodies warming in the sun. It's been a while since my kids have played in some sand and both Sydney and Madison seemed to enjoy digging around and filling up the sand buckets. I think it's a very therapeutic thing to get a little sand between the toes every now and then and I think my kids will agree with me.

As soon as we got in the van to hurry home the kids were asking when we will get to go back. They had such a great time running around with their cousins, soaking up that Vitamin D and playing in the water. Nothing beats hearing that happiness in their voice. Day very well spent!
