It was our first ever Raymond Parade, how exciting. Ryan had spent part of the week with his brother (CB) and R making a new parade float for the upcoming parade season. I learned this week that they give away prizes for floats! Did you know that? Anyway, they made this fabulous float out of one of the types of spray foam Sunny South Insulators use to insulate homes. They then painted it and added a few extra designers accessories and added the Smart Car to finalize the project. I thought it was amazing! So off they went early in the morning to get ready for the parade and have their float be judged in comparison to all the others out there. Well, not surprisingly, they got 2nd place and came out with a little bit of cash (which I was told will be used to by candy for the Coaldale Candy Parade this coming Saturday, see you there?). As far as parades go it was ... pretty much like every parade. Lots of floats, some Samaritans in their little carts, horses pooping in the road and lots of waving. The kids had a good time gathering candy thrown onto the sidelines and came away with a bowl full which is all they needed anyway. I even overheard Brayden bragging to the random kid beside us how his dads float was this cool wave, then when the kid saw it he agreed it really was a cool wave. There was one float that I thought was entertaining, the plumber float. I can't remember what plumber, but is that really what's important? Another favourite for parades is that I get goose bumps as those RCMP march by in full costume. Canada really is awesome.
