I Heart Summer

ManiacMaddy
I don't ever want summer to end. We have been having so much fun playing in the sun and running wild. It's so refreshing to get up in the morning and not have to worry about making sure everyone is looking presentable for school because we'll just be soaking ourselves in some sort of water later in the day. Today was sort of like a Saturday for us because Ryan had the day off so we had to do something fun. The morning was sort of ugly outside with scattered showers and lots of clouds so we did some indoor stuff (the milk and egg experiments) but by the start of the afternoon it was starting to heat up and the clouds were burning off so we headed outside. We took Ryan for his first trip to the spray park. It was hot and not busy at all because of the clouds so the kids were able to run around and play with some of the things that are otherwise utilized by the bigger kids. It's also a lot more fun when Dad is there with us, Dad being the fun parent. Even if he's just taking a moment to relax in the sun the kids seem to find a way to goof around with an unresponsive Ryan.

Waiting Her TurnAfter we got too hot at the spray park, we did a slurpee run on the way home. The kids got out of their wet swimsuits and into some pants so they could go across the street into the parking lot and drive their dirt bikes. I was super nervous because they have never driven the bikes on hard pavement, only dirt and grass. I sort of have this inner voice that tells me pavement can cause more damage then grass so my tummy was in knots. I have to say though, they looked semi professional in their new gloves. Sydney rocked the new helmet and I'm still very jealous of her pink helmet! They each took a turn driving around the parking lot. There is a little hill and at the bottom of that hill is a turn and a couple of times as Brayden took the turn he had to put his inside foot down to balance skimming it across the pavement. As nervous as I was it was a good feeling to know that he knew exactly what to do and did it without hesitation and kept on going as if it was nothing. While we were finishing up on the dirt bikes the nice old cars started driving by getting ready for Street Wheelers Weekend. For those of you not familiar with Lethbridge we have an annual event where all the people bring out their old fashioned cars that they've built or restored and get to show them off, race them and cruise the streets while the rest of us crowd the streets and watch in awe! Anyway, the cars started going by and the kids got distracted from the biking and we moved on to the next activity: Friday is pizza/movie night here at the Beattie house.

  1. How in the world does that bathing suit still fit Madison!?

And by the way, I would be jealous of Syd's helmet, too.
