Summer Vacay - Day 19: Camp Scouting

Man TalentAs the Beattie reunion weekend draws closer, we needed to find the perfect spot for everyone. That meant going up in the mountains and dropping off a trailer at the chosen site to save it until the end of July. We aren't too familiar with 'the mountains' so we recruited some pros for a day trip to show us the good spots. These hired professionals were Rys Sister and Brother in law and they spend some time up around those parts every year so we were hoping they'd be able to lead us in the right direction. Thankfully they came with us because we ran into some mechanical problems and would have been stranded on the side of the road without their help. Thankfully, while us girls stayed with the kids the men went to town and came back with the supplies needed and after our pit stop we back up and running.

I don't know what it is about the mountains but they sure smell amazing ... like, mountains. The air is fresher, the trees give off their scent and the scenery is amazing. As soon as we hit the end of the road and stopped off at a potential site, that fresh air energized me. It was amazing to sit down in the most beautiful meadow, beside a creek and eat dinner and take it all in.

There was a meadow filled with flowers the kids ran through, we pulled out the dirt bikes and the kids went for a ride. They threw their rocks into the river and Sydney got herself an impressive rock collection in the short time there.

We thought we had found the perfect spot! It was big enough for everyone, open enough that people could play on their toys (quads and dirt bikes) and still be apart of the group and having a nice stream for the kids to play in was a bonus. We parked the trailer and took off back down the road, but not before catching Ryan making his bowling face, haha.

We made it about 5 minutes before finding an even more perfect spot and relocating the trailer. The new spot had great trees, more privacy, still access to the river, an open meadow adjacent to the new site AND it even had a little hill I know the kids will be running up and down endlessly. How perfect is that?
